MUSEUM
NIKOLA TESLA
The Nikola Tesla Museum in the Serbian capital of Belgrade commemorates Nikola Tesla, the inventor and electrical engineer.
Nikola Tesla Museum
The museum is in a villa once built as living accommodation in the Vracar district of Belgrade. The building was designed by the Serbian architect Dragisa Brasovan and built in 1929. It served various purposes before it was designated as the location for the Nikola Tesla Museum in 1952. The decision to set up the museum was taken by the government of the SFR Yugoslavia after the estate of Nikola Tesla had been awarded to his nephew Sava Kosanovic by an American court and transferred to Belgrade in 1951. The museum finally opened on 5th December 1952.
A model of the Tesla fountain which he developed was inaugurated in a small park on the corner of the street opposite the museum on 5th April 2008.
